The injury rate in the forestry sector is almost double the national average, which is why we are very proud of our integrated systems designed to reduce the risk of injury in our workplaces and our strong safety culture
Venture Forestry's operations and practices are uncompromisingly co-ordinated using the Approved Code of Practice for Safety & Health in Forest Operations (commonly referred to as the 'ACoP') as the minimum standard. For every person engaged in business with Venture Forestry, this is non-negotiable. The ACoP sets out practical guidelines for carrying out forestry operations in a safe and responsible manner.
Venture Forestry staff and contractors are held responsible for continually improving health & safety standards in the workplace. This is achieved by maintaining clear lines of communication among all personnel around the safe management, operation and maintenance of all plant & the workplace environment. This is both monitored and audited on a frequent and regular basis for every job.
Venture Forestry is required by legislation to ensure that all workers and all contractors follow the responsibilities set out by both the Health & Safety Work Act 2015, and the Hazardous Substances & New Organisms Act 1996 and the associated respective regulations. All operations are carried out in strict accordance with District and Regional Council bylaws.
“Been farm foresters and having several blocks to harvest Summit Logging was recommended to us by Venture Forestry. After meeting them and looking at the blocks we were happy to sign them up. The blocks were in gullies and steeper faces with a waterway in one. All blocks were surrounded by fences that were to be left intact.
The crew were very easy to discuss with on all matters. Their attention to safety requirements from road signage, to all signage around the site for any visitors was exemplary and made for a very safe work place. Nobody was allowed on site unless wearing the appropriate safety gear.
The work site was kept tidy with toilets, rubbish bins and a clean office. All of the logging was carried out carefully as some areas were quite awkward to work. No fences were damaged during their time there. Their care around waterways left no room for council concerns.
Once finished the site was left very tidy they took a real pride in their gear, the way they operated and maintained it. I would recommend this crew to anyone wanting logging done.”
